I know it’s a little early but they FINALLY let me do a Christmas song! The guys from The American Authors came in and helped me make this Christmas song come to life with some banjo magic. They just put up their latest song Believer on their Facebook page. I am addicted and it’s ridiculous. So good. Hope ya like our version of this wonderful Christmas song.

This is not about teams…
When I was in 11th grade my friend Brian and I wanted to start a little garage band. We were messing around and just jamming, nothing crazy. I told him that my band would be called He Is We and someday tour the country. We talked about our dreams and what we wanted to be when we grew up. I had the name figured out and what I wanted to do with it. I wanted it to represent community and be a band that reached out to people on a personal level. Not just smiley faces and awkward hugs, but really make an impact.
After I turned 18 I moved to Tacoma, WA and met Trevor. We started playing music and didn’t think much of it. I knew this was the project I wanted to call He Is We. I had a vision. He and I built each other up and pushed each other to make the best music we could. We were growing and suddenly Myspace blew up. We had no idea why. It just happened. Before we knew it we were in New York. Showcases and fancy dinners ended with the signing of He Is We to Universal Motown. We promised we would never change. We began traveling quite a bit and learning SO much about the people who supported us. The more that happened, the longer and longer we spent away from home. My body began to get sick easier and I stayed sick for longer. Something was going on, but I pushed.
19 years old, a traumatic incident took place that changed my life forever. 2 weeks after that I was sent on tour. I had no therapy or anyone to talk to about it. I had to keep this face on for everybody because the idea of talking about it became unbearable. My body then became very ill. It was a mix of the road conditions and my mental health. No one had a clue. I ended up in the ER twice due to some medication issues. My body had actually become poisoned and I was throwing up before and after shows. I know it’s graphic, but I am trying to paint a picture of where my mind was. I was later diagnosed with PTSD and got the help I needed.
At 21 I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, which explained why my body was hurting and I was so tired all the time. Everything was crumbling in my hands. I couldn’t keep up with all of it. You guys stood by encouraging me, not even knowing what happened. You guys made this process such an incredible experience. I couldn’t have been more blessed.
At the moment I decided to walk away, I was given a very difficult choice. Either walk away and allow He Is We to carry on its message without me or potentially ruin the lives of everyone else because they had to wait for me. I didn’t want this to fail because I was too sick. I panicked. I tried to tell myself it was a good idea and that I was doing it for you guys. But the moment it happened I had this knot in my stomach. I tossed and turned and remembered that this was MY VISION from high school. I needed to stop feeling sorry for myself and step up to the plate. I was so scared people wouldn’t take me back.
There were rough spots in there. Things were said and my heart had been broken. I had seen sides of people, sides of myself, that I wasn’t proud of and I knew it had to change. When it all went down, I spent the night crying in happiness at the support that flooded in. You guys held me up when I wanted so desperately to hit the ground. I was done. But your belief in me sparked a fire that couldn’t be contained.I am now finishing up recording in New York. Nashville is next. And somehow, we pulled this off guys and this record is dedicated 100% to you all. I am bringing the songs I wrote back to the table and giving you guys something from the heart.
Sometimes people are brought into each other’s lives to bring us to where we need to be right then and to teach us who we want to be. Paths cross all the time and sometimes lead us to something greater down the road.
Just know that Trevor has decided to pursue a project with Stevie Scott. I haven’t spoken with him in awhile and don’t know the details, but I know it is something that makes him happy. So our job as lovers of all things good in this world is to continue to love and support him through ALL things. We can’t allow this to tear us apart. This whole “team” business is ripping the relationship out of what should be an incredible community. We are believers in the idea that LOVE CAN HEAL.Your love healed me. I will never forget that. You guys have become the center of my world and I owe you MY life. Love you all.
Ever wonder how you can tell me YOUR story or ask questions? I currently have no access to the heiswefans@gmail.com so I have created a mailbox just for YOU! It will be used specifically to speak directly to me and for me to speak directly to you!

A lot of you have been wondering what’s happening with He is We. I try explaning what I think has been happening.
Check out this video Rachel posted on facebook. It shows a preview of a song she’s currently working on. How excited are you for some new He is We music?
And so it begins…
This is going to be quite a journey. But this is where it begins.
If I were to walk away…
It has come to this.I have to step back and realize that He Is We is a name. My heart and soul have both gone into this name, but it’s not who I am. What do I mean? What am I getting at?
Well.
Call it whatever you will. The body is just a vessel for the soul that dwells within. I feel as though He Is We has been this body for me. This body has helped me grow and learn so much about this world we live in. But like other bodies, this one has began to die. It has become unhealthy and detrimental to my passion. I have been fighting to keep the name and stick it out. Through this, I have lost my drive to write. I have been hindered and in a constant battle with myself. But today it hit me.
It is just a name.
Walking away from the label would mean that I would be walking away from the He Is We name but I would regain my freedom to be me. I would regain my ability to connect with you fans 100% with my words. I wouldn’t feel like I can only release what THEY want me to. I could be the soul that longs to escape this dreary vessel.
He Is We means being one with your community. Knowing that He died not only for those who believe, but for those who needed someone and somewhere to call home. This is what I feel my calling in music is: to be that home. I have had this name in my heart since the 11th grade.
But the name “He Is We” doesn’t make me who I am. We do. We make this name not only a person, place or thing…but a verb. He Is We is about moving. It’s about grabbing the hearts of those around us and showing them compassion. The name is not something to label us, but a lifestyle to lead.
I want to come to you guys first before I make any big decisions. All that I know is that God has called me to lead. I don’t know what it entails, but music is a certainty. Nothing will ever stop be from writing music. I can’t imagine life without writing and sharing what’s on my heart. This has been the first time in my 14 years of writing that I have been unable to LEGALLY write for others. It has become about being a product.
You guys are my world. I will be willing to give up the name if it means spending the rest of my life writing for you all. My happiness revolves around finding peace in music and confirmation in YOU.
This is a huge decision and I wanted to make sure you all knew why this was something on my heart. I am in love with music and my passion is being contained. I am not fulfilling what it is I am called to. Not completely.
I will be praying about this and hope you guys can give me some feedback and support. I want nothing more in this world than to share my lyrics and melodies with you all. You’ve helped me heal and I am so proud of the group of supports I have had beside me all the way. YOU guys made this possible.

Short Summary
My trials and tribulations in my life have been no secret. They have been listened to by many who have had the same struggles. I always felt so alone through my challenges and never saught any help. Until now. I have decided to start a project called We Are More as a way to bring people together. The feeling of shame and disappointment has been taking young lives for far too long and WE need to stop it. This generation is done watching low self esteem and ridicule take the lives of beautiful peers. WE have had enough.
What We Need & What You Get
I have put together a business plan so that I can figure out what exactly it is that we need to launch this organization. My goal is to raise $3500 in the next month. This will cover the purchase of the domain, the orders of merchandise and any other business fees that come up. The merchandise will most certainly be the most costly, but I feel it is of huge importance in order to get the word out. I will have stickers, posters, shirts and wrist bands made immediately. From there I find festivals or bands to tour with. Any money left over will fund the feeding and living arrangements of whoever it is that I decide to send to travel the states and spread the message of We Are More. This person could be YOU.
The Impact
This project is a way to step up and make a real change in today’s world. The internet has been such an incredible source of community and I think we need to really embrace that. Your story can save the life of someone who feels trapped and alone in their own skin. We Are More is just the beginning. The phrase, “We Are More” is an indication that we do not have to fight this world alone. This darkness will pass and we will not be forced to overcome it alone. Even if you don’t feel strong enough to share your story with the world, your belief and passion for this project could influence others to speak yup. WE can be the voice of strength. WE can be the voice of embracing our scars and painful pasts. WE will not let the cycle of suicide and self harm win this battle. We Are More together.
Other Ways You Can Help
You don’t have to be an outgoing or crazy loud individual to have your voice heard. Simply wearing a bracelet, and having people ask questions, can change someone’s heart. Sharing this organization with others who may have a knack for public speaking could be an incredible way to help. If you do not feel called to work directly with We Are More, you can STILL make a huge impact. Simply wearing the merchandise and getting people curious as to what it’s all about can do more good than you’ll ever know. You can plant that seed of curiousity and maybe even a seed of hope.
